We recommend making travel arrangements well in advance to secure the lowest rates and to plan your overall budget. There are several ways to get here:
Trains and buses arrive at New York's Grand Central Station, Pennsylvania Station, or Port Authority Bus Terminal. Take the 1 train to the 116th Street-Columbia University stop at 116th Street and Broadway. Do not take express trains Nos. 2 and 3, which eventually follow a different route and do not stop at Columbia University. If you take these express trains, be certain to transfer at 96th Street to the No. 1 local.
For buses, the M11 bus travels up Amsterdam Avenue and stops at 116th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, and the M104 bus travels up Broadway and stops at 116th Street and Broadway. The M4 bus travels up Madison Avenue, crosses on 110th Street, and then turns up Broadway and makes a stop at 116th Street
If you are arriving at LaGuardia, Kennedy, or Newark airport, taxi service is available to campus, and bus service is available to Grand Central Station and the Port Authority Bus Terminal. The M60 city bus can be taken directly from LaGuardia Airport to Columbia.
